The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has sparked controversy by calling the FBI “corrupt” and accusing the bureau of leaking sensitive immigration enforcement plans. These claims emerged after the LA Times reported on an impending large-scale operation in the Los Angeles area, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The operation reportedly targets individuals without legal status or with pending removal orders.

DHS Secretary Takes Aim at FBI Over Leaks

Noem shared her frustration on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing the FBI in a strongly worded post. “The FBI is so corrupt,” she wrote. “We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law.” Her remarks followed the LA Times report, which cited an internal government document outlining the operation. According to the publication, the document was shared with select government officials last week.

Federal Law Enforcement Involvement Expands

The LA Times further noted that officers and agents from the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) were being called in to assist ICE. A federal law enforcement source, who spoke anonymously due to fear of reprisal, disclosed this information. However, ICE sources told Fox News that they were unaware of where Noem obtained her claims or on what evidence they were based.

When Fox News Digital reached out to DHS for comment, there was no immediate response. Similarly, the FBI declined to comment on the accusations raised by Secretary Noem.

Attorney General Warns Against Leaks

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed the issue during an appearance on “Fox Report,” emphasizing the dangers of government leaks. “If anyone leaks anything, it jeopardizes the lives of our great men and women in law enforcement,” Bondi warned. “If you leaked it, we will find out who you are, and we will come after you. It’s not going to stop our mission or the president’s mission to make America safe again.”

Bondi also explained that individuals who leak classified information or obstruct immigration enforcement could face prosecution. She referenced a recent incident in Denver, Colorado, where activists allegedly used bullhorns to alert illegal immigrants about ICE activities. Bondi stated this behavior could lead to investigations for potential obstruction of justice.

What Could Be Done to Prevent Leaks?

According to Bondi, actions such as warning illegal immigrants with bullhorns or leaking sensitive information endanger law enforcement personnel and their mission. “We will investigate every single case where someone jeopardizes the lives of law enforcement, and they will be held accountable,” she said. Bondi also reaffirmed that the Department of Justice would take action against those who break the law.
