According to court filings, on February 14, 2025, 16-year-old Miranda Corsette accessed the Grindr app. The suit claims Steven Gress, 35, used the platform to target Corsette, abducted her from her Gulfport home, and held her captive. Ten days later, authorities declared Corsette missing.

The complaint alleges Gress subjected Corsette to a week of sexual assault and torture before killing her. The filings state Gress desecrated and disposed of her remains, which robbed the family of the chance to hold a proper burial.

Attorney’s Statement on Grindr’s Accountability

“Grindr chose not to implement reasonable age verification technologies,” said attorney Lorne Adam Kaiser, who represents the family. “We aim to cause change to prevent future tragedies.”
