A'ja Wilson, the shining star of the Las Vegas Aces, has once again clinched the WNBA's Most Valuable Player title for the 2024 season, marking her third time receiving this prestigious honor. Her previous victories came in 2020 and 2022.
This year, Wilson achieved a unanimous vote, making her only the second player in history to accomplish this feat alongside Cynthia Cooper-Dyke. She is now part of an exclusive group of players including Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, and Lauren Jackson to have won three MVP awards - a record in the league's relatively short history.
This triumph also elevates the Aces to fourth among teams with the most MVP titles. Leading the pack are the Los Angeles Sparks, followed by the Houston Comets and Seattle Storm with six, five, and four MVPs respectively.
Wilson's extraordinary performance this season was pivotal in leading her team towards their quest for a third consecutive championship. She established new personal bests across key statistics including points, rebounds, and blocks, dominating the league with remarkable totals of 1,021 points, 451 rebounds, and 98 blocks. Moreover, Wilson set a new benchmark for points per game at 26.9, surpassing Diana Taurasi's previous record of 25.3 set back in 2006.

The Aces secured the fourth seed heading into the postseason and are pitted against Seattle in what promises to be an electrifying opening round matchup. Their bracket also features a showdown between New York as top seed facing off against eighth-seeded Atlanta. Additionally, Minnesota's Lynx will compete against Phoenix's Mercury to determine who will advance to face either Connecticut Sun or Indiana Fever in the semifinals.
Last year’s championship journey saw Vegas achieving consecutive sweeps against Chicago and Dallas before defeating Breanna Stewart’s Liberty to secure another championship title for Las Vegas.
