The Republican Governors Association has recently made it clear that they are halting additional advertising support in North Carolina, a move coming amidst controversy surrounding GOP Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s alleged inflammatory online behavior.
According to Courtney Alexander, RGA Communications Director, the organization’s current ad campaign in the state is concluding without plans for future ad placements. This decision emerges amid reports of Robinson’s problematic posts on a pornographic website, where he allegedly identified himself with highly offensive terms.

Robinson is currently considering legal action against CNN for their report on his supposed comments on the site Nude Africa, which has significantly impacted his gubernatorial campaign. The lieutenant governor vehemently denies these accusations and intends to challenge CNN legally for their coverage.
The situation escalated as key members of Robinson’s campaign team resigned over the weekend, signaling internal turmoil within his gubernatorial bid. Despite this setback and a lack of public support from prominent Republicans including former President Donald Trump and JD Vance, some voters remain undeterred in their support for Robinson due to alignment with his political stances.
However, there is growing pressure from within the Republican Party for Robinson to address these allegations more thoroughly. Notably, Senator Lindsey Graham expressed concerns on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” suggesting that without a credible defense against these claims, Robinson’s candidacy could be irreparably damaged. Similarly, Senator Thom Tillis called for immediate legal action if the accusations are unfounded or otherwise an admission of guilt and withdrawal from the race to preserve the party’s integrity in North Carolina.
Robinson finds himself lagging behind Democratic candidate Josh Stein by a significant margin in recent polls, indicating that these controversies may have already taken their toll on his gubernatorial ambitions.
