• Maxine Waters accuses Elon Musk of interfering in the 2024 election and profiting from government contracts.
  • Concerns raised over DOGE’s staff layoffs, housing market consolidation, and private sector partnerships.
  • Waters calls for transparency into Musk’s government role and ties to Trump’s administration.

California Representative Maxine Waters has raised serious allegations against billionaire Elon Musk, suggesting he may have interfered in the 2024 election. In a video posted on X, Waters stated, “We don’t know everything that Elon Musk has done with his high technology a**. We don’t know what he’s been accused of by some as it may relate to the election, but we’re not going to give up on investigating and finding out.”

These claims come amid growing scrutiny over Musk’s role as head of the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a program created by President Donald Trump on January 20 to cut federal spending. Waters has been vocal about her concerns, also pointing to staff layoffs announced by DOGE, which plans to fire over 80,000 Veterans Affairs employees this week.

On behalf of 122 federal lawmakers, Waters personally delivered a letter to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner. This letter requested a full investigation into staff terminations and DOGE’s private sector partnerships. Waters highlighted the involvement of individuals like Scott Langmack and Michael Mirski, who, she alleges, come from industries set to profit from dismantling federal housing protections.

“Several individuals from DOGE currently stationed at HUD… come from the very industries that stand to gain from housing market consolidation and profiteering at the expense of families,” the letter read.

Musk’s Political Influence and Government Contracts

According to Waters, Musk’s immense wealth has enabled him to infiltrate the political sphere. At a protest in Hawthorne, California, she accused Musk of buying influence with President Trump by funding his campaign. “He has bought his way into the presidency by funding all of Trump’s campaign. And now Trump is letting him do whatever the hell he wants,” she said. Furthermore, Waters claimed Musk has profited heavily from government contracts, raising legal concerns and prompting multiple lawsuits against him.

Waters’ accusations emphasize the need for greater transparency into Musk’s role in government operations, including his ties to DOGE and its controversial decisions. As digital and political worlds collide, these issues could have lasting impacts on public trust in federal programs.
