Hipke had pleaded guilty on April 2 to six counts of aggravated assault of a child, admitting to sexually abusing minors under his care. The charges stemmed from accusations dating back to 2016, where he inappropriately touched children during medical examinations at his now-closed practice, the Adolescent Care Team.
In one instance, court documents revealed that Hipke instructed a child to disrobe “for no legitimate medical reason” and proceeded to make inappropriate physical contact. At least five civil lawsuits were filed on behalf of nearly a dozen children, alleging patterns of abuse and misconduct during medical sessions.
Second Arrest and Civil Cases
Although initially arrested in August 2020 on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child younger than 14, Hipke was released after posting a bond exceeding $1 million. However, he was re-arrested in June 2022 following fresh allegations of sexual assaults on two boys during counseling sessions.
Civil lawsuits further alleged that Hipke refused to allow parents to remain in examination rooms, claiming it would help children “open up.” Plaintiffs recounted incidents where the doctor required minors to undress unnecessarily, made inappropriate physical contact, and showed explicit images. Such experiences reportedly left young patients feeling humiliated and emotionally distressed.

Hipke’s medical license was revoked, and his practice was permanently shut down. Five children from four families received confidential settlements as part of the civil litigation, according to CBS19. Despite the legal outcomes, the emotional trauma experienced by the victims and their families remains significant.
Ongoing Investigation
While details about Hipke’s death remain scarce, authorities continue to investigate the circumstances. His sentencing, originally set for Friday, would have addressed offenses involving two boys under 17. This delay adds another layer of complexity to a case already steeped in public and legal scrutiny.
