Former NFL great and sports commentator Shannon Sharpe has publicly addressed the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him in Nevada, calling it an “orchestrated shakedown.” Sharpe, 56, took to Instagram to issue a fiery statement slamming attorney Tony Buzbee and denying all allegations of wrongdoing. “This isn’t right. This is a shakedown,” Sharpe declared, accusing Buzbee of targeting Black men and attempting to manipulate the media.
The lawsuit, filed by a plaintiff identified as Jane Doe, alleges two instances of sexual assault involving Sharpe in October 2022 and January 2023. Sharpe has categorically denied the claims, describing them as a “blatant and cynical attempt” to extort millions of dollars.
Allegations and Lawsuit Details
According to court filings, the plaintiff, a 20-year-old OnlyFans model, alleges that she had a rocky, consensual relationship with Sharpe before the incidents. She claims the first assault occurred at her apartment in October, and the second took place in January when Sharpe allegedly visited her under the pretense of delivering Christmas and birthday gifts.

Sharpe’s legal team, led by attorney Lanny Davis, has strongly refuted the allegations. Davis revealed that Sharpe had previously offered a settlement of “tens of millions of dollars,” which the plaintiff rejected before filing the lawsuit. Davis also accused the plaintiff of attempting to blackmail Sharpe through a combination of edited videos and false claims.
Video and Text Message Evidence
In a new twist, attorney Tony Buzbee released a 1:36 audio clip allegedly featuring a phone call between Sharpe and the plaintiff. In the recording, Sharpe is heard making explicit statements. However, Sharpe claims the audio is heavily edited and that the full, uncut video—reportedly 10 minutes long—would clear his name.
Sharpe’s team also released text messages allegedly sent by the plaintiff. These messages reportedly show that she requested Sharpe to engage in consensual acts that contradict her allegations.
Sharpe Faces Fight On and Off the Field
Sharpe remains one of the most recognizable figures in sports broadcasting, currently starring on ESPN’s First Take. His public denial of the allegations has drawn both support and criticism. Sharpe emphasized his commitment to being transparent and honest with his fans, vowing to defend himself against what he called “lies and distortions.”
