  • Sokola’s testimony adds to the over 80 accusations against Weinstein, highlighting the ongoing impact of the #MeToo movement.

Kaja Sokola, a Polish native and former aspiring actress, testified in Manhattan Supreme Court about her alleged sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein. Sokola, now 39, detailed incidents she claims took place when she was just 16 years old. Her emotional testimony sheds new light on the accusations against the disgraced film producer, who has denied all allegations of non-consensual acts.

Sokola’s Testimony Reveals Disturbing Allegations

Sokola testified that Weinstein took her to his Soho loft in New York City under the guise of a business lunch. There, she alleged, he instructed her to undress before touching her inappropriately and forcing her to engage in unwanted acts. Sokola described the incident as “the most horrifying thing I’ve ever experienced until that time.”

She claimed Weinstein tried to justify his actions by name-dropping actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Penélope Cruz, stating he had launched their careers. Sokola said she felt manipulated and ashamed, believing it was her fault for being in that situation.

Despite her fear, Sokola said she met with Weinstein again in 2004, hoping he would still help her acting career. During this meeting, Weinstein allegedly groped her breasts in a car while a driver was present. Sokola also mentioned a 2006 incident in which she claimed Weinstein forcibly performed oral sex on her when she was 19.

Weinstein, 73, continues to deny these allegations. His attorney, Imran H. Ansari, argued that the timeline and evidence would refute Sokola’s accusations.

Weinstein’s Past Convictions and Legal Battles

In 2020, Weinstein was convicted of felony sex crimes, but the New York State Court of Appeals overturned his conviction in April 2024. Sokola did not testify during that trial. Her current testimony marks the first time she has publicly spoken about her alleged experiences with Weinstein.

Weinstein sat emotionless in a wheelchair during Sokola’s tearful testimony. Her account of the alleged assault included details such as seeing his “black and scary” eyes in a mirror, a memory she said she will “never forget.”
