Authorities say a complaint was first filed on June 9 by a School Resource Officer assigned to a BOCES facility in Chemung County, located near the Pennsylvania border. According to a statement released by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, investigators determined that Milazzo had sent explicit photographs of herself to the underage boy over a three-month period.

“A School Resource Officer received a complaint alleging Milazzo sent indecent material,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “The Criminal Division learned that over a three-month period, Milazzo had sent nude photographs of herself to a 14-year-old male.”

The investigation culminated in Milazzo being charged; however, she was not taken into custody. Police issued her a ticket to appear in Wellsburg Village Court at a later date.

Who Is Anamaria Milazzo?

Milazzo is a former BOCES employee, though the organization has not disclosed details about her role or the dates of her employment. Local NBC affiliate WETM confirmed her firing, though BOCES declined to comment further.

BOCES, established in 1948, provides shared educational programs and services to school districts across New York. The facility where Milazzo worked specializes in educational services for students and young adults, making the allegations particularly concerning.

Legal and Community Impact

The charges against Milazzo highlight the increasing scrutiny on educators entrusted with student welfare. If convicted of disseminating indecent material, Milazzo faces severe penalties under New York law, which aims to protect minors from exploitation.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, urging parents to monitor their children’s online interactions closely. The case serves as a somber reminder of the importance of safeguarding children in educational environments.
