• Charlie Kirk urged President Trump to reconsider his approach to the Epstein controversy, citing a flood of backlash from young MAGA supporters. Kirk said the administration’s dismissive tone has alienated Gen Z voters and undercut Trump’s anti-deep state message, despite widespread support for his leadership.

PHOENIX, AZ (TDR) — Conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is urging President Trump to recalibrate his tone and messaging around the Jeffrey Epstein controversy, warning that a growing segment of the MAGA base—especially young male voters—feels alienated by the administration’s dismissive response.

Speaking on The Charlie Kirk Show this week, Kirk said he’s received “hundreds of thousands” of messages from concerned supporters frustrated by the administration’s approach to the Epstein Files and the broader accountability questions surrounding it.

“Gen Z is really fired up about this, especially young men,” Kirk said. “We’re getting flooded with thousands, hundreds of thousands of comments that are very unhappy about this.”

MAGA Messaging and a Deep State Reckoning

At the center of the controversy is a July memo from the Department of Justice and FBI asserting that no official “Epstein client list” exists—despite claims from Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this year that referenced such a list. The administration’s subsequent push to label Epstein-related inquiries as a “hoax” has only added fuel to the fire.

President Trump doubled down on that framing last week, writing in a Truth Social post:

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker.”

That post was widely seen by allies as Trump taking a combative tone toward a core part of his base. Kirk, however, said the reaction isn’t driven by conspiracy but by the very message Trump himself popularized.

“It’s not that people are saying they want to learn about Epstein because they have any suspicion of President Trump,” Kirk clarified. “We were taught by him to go after the deep state—to lance the boil that’s been festering for decades.”

Kirk’s comments came just days after the Turning Point Action Conference in Florida, where several speakers—most notably media personality Megyn Kelly—took direct aim at Bondi and the administration’s handling of Epstein-related inquiries.

Kelly received a standing ovation for her speech, in which she accused the DOJ of “covering up for elites” and demanded transparency about Epstein’s associates and operations.

While Kirk had previously declared he was “done talking about Epstein,” he admitted on-air that public pressure from Trump voters had changed his stance.

“We are messengers here,” he said. “We’re relaying what we are hearing from your most loyal ultra-MAGA supporters.”

A Generational Divide?

Kirk emphasized that the outrage is particularly intense among Gen Z voters, many of whom were drawn to Trump’s first campaign because of its bold promises to confront entrenched government institutions and expose political corruption.

“President Trump was elected primarily to go after the deep state,” Kirk said. “We all agree. But this is starting to feel like a misunderstanding that’s spiraling.”

The backlash puts a spotlight on the fine line Trump must walk between defending his administration’s record and maintaining trust with a movement that thrives on confronting power—regardless of where it resides.
