• Outrage is mounting in Colorado after a Soros-backed prosecutor plans to release a convicted sex offender accused of trying to kidnap a child from an elementary school—after the suspect was ruled mentally unfit for trial. Critics call it another example of soft-on-crime justice funded by liberal billionaire George Soros.

AURORA, CO (TDR) — A sex offender with a rap sheet stretching back over a decade is set to walk free after allegedly trying to snatch a child from a school playground—thanks to a ruling that he’s “mentally incompetent” and a prosecutor backed by George Soros.

Solomon Galligan, 33, remains in Arapahoe County Jail for now, but the clock is ticking. The district attorney’s office, led by Democrat Amy Padden, confirmed this week that it will be legally required to drop criminal charges by the end of the month due to Galligan’s mental state.

“Bottom line: When a defendant is found incompetent to proceed, we are legally obligated to dismiss charges,” a spokesman told The Washington Times. “Our hands are tied.”

Galligan was arrested in April after surveillance video at an Aurora elementary school showed him lunging at an 11-year-old boy during recess.

According to the police affidavit, children screamed “stranger danger” as Galligan approached. The boy later told investigators that Galligan “smelled like alcohol” and had “white powder on his face.”

This wasn’t Galligan’s first run-in with the law. He has a 2011 conviction for nonconsensual sexual contact and was busted again in 2012 for failing to register as a sex offender.

Court documents also show Galligan requested to be referred to with she/her pronouns during his arraignment last year—prompting backlash on social media.

Galligan’s family told KUSA-TV that he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder at 16. Since then, they say, he’s been in and out of jail for 12 years, charged with everything from burglary to assault.

His sister, Sarah Galligan, said that because of a lack of available psychiatric beds, he’s been repeatedly released despite being ruled incompetent in previous cases.

“We’d only find out where he was when he got arrested again,” she said.

Now, the DA says Galligan will be civilly committed for mental health treatment—but the terms are sealed.

Spotlight on Soros-Backed Prosecutor

Galligan’s pending release is also drawing scrutiny to District Attorney Amy Padden, who received around $40,000 from groups linked to George Soros, according to campaign finance records.

Critics say Padden is following a familiar script among Soros-backed DAs: soft treatment for violent offenders under the banner of justice reform.

She made headlines earlier this year when her office handed a plea deal to a 15-year-old illegal immigrant who killed a woman in a high-speed crash.

“They’re buying up these obscure PACs, like the Colorado Working Families Party, and funneling money through them,” said Sean Kennedy of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund. “It’s designed to avoid public scrutiny while pushing radical leniency.”

According to the New York Post, the Working Families Party has received millions from Soros-aligned entities and helped back candidates like New York socialist Zohran Mamdani, who recently unseated Andrew Cuomo in a shocking primary.

A Bogeyman or a Blueprint?

Soros’ influence in local elections has become a lightning rod for national debate. While some hail his efforts as criminal justice reform, critics point to rising crime rates, repeat offenders, and victims left without justice.

“George Soros has become the bogeyman—and for good reason,” Kennedy added. “There’s a growing list of horror stories tied to his prosecutors.”

Now, parents in Aurora are asking: how does a man with a sex crime conviction, a history of mental instability, and an alleged attempted kidnapping walk free?

Is this what justice reform looks like—or is it just more risk for our communities? Let us know in the comments.
