- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal is set to expire in September 2025 and will not be renewed under the current terms.
- Sources say the couple could shift to a “first look” deal, mirroring the Obama family’s pivot with the streamer.
- Meghan’s As Ever lifestyle brand remains tied to Netflix through product collaborations, separate from their original TV contract.
LOS ANGELES, CA (TDR) — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be wrapping up their headline-making Netflix deal this September, but don’t count the Duke and Duchess of Sussex out of Hollywood just yet.
The royal-turned-celebrity couple’s original partnership with the streamer, which produced the Harry & Meghan docuseries, the upcoming lifestyle program With Love, Meghan, and a new polo-centered docu-project, will not be renewed under the same terms, according to multiple reports. But that doesn’t mean they’re being dropped—far from it.
The couple is reportedly following in the footsteps of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, whose own Netflix content deal was quietly shifted into a “first look” arrangement several years ago. A similar pivot is expected for Harry and Meghan.
“When the Obamas moved from an exclusive deal to a ‘first look’ deal, Netflix issued press releases and made a huge fuss about it,” one TV industry insider told The Post. “It’s not the same with Meghan and Harry. They’ve barely even acknowledged it.”

Even without a formal renewal, Markle’s As Ever lifestyle brand remains deeply integrated with Netflix’s evolving business model. The platform reportedly invested in the brand’s launch, which includes jams, teas, rosé wine, flower sprinkles, and honey—products that sold out within minutes of release.
“They’re NOT done,” a source told Page Six. “They have plenty coming up together.”
Importantly, the As Ever collaboration is reportedly separate from the TV deal, giving the couple more time—and more runway—with Netflix beyond scripted or docuseries content.
“I cannot imagine that Meghan and Netflix went into business together just for a year or two,” the source added.

However, things aren’t all rosy behind the scenes. The couple has allegedly parted ways with multiple staff members amid financial tightening.
Celebrity columnist Rob Shuter reported that the Sussexes have downsized in recent weeks, shedding key team members they’d hired to support a “California-style royal court.”
“This isn’t strategy — it’s survival,” one source told Shuter. “They’re running out of money, and now they’re running out of people.”
Another insider added: “They tried to recreate the royal court — but California doesn’t do crowns on credit.”
The reported shake-up comes as With Love, Meghan gears up for its second season, premiering in September. While season one failed to crack Netflix’s Top 300 most-watched titles in the first half of 2025, industry watchers caution that this doesn’t tell the full story.
“It still landed in the top 5% of shows overall,” an insider familiar with the platform’s backend said. “And with the new ad-supported tier, there are more monetization opportunities than ever.”
What’s Next for the Sussexes?
The bigger question: what does the end of their exclusive Netflix deal mean for their broader brand?
With Meghan’s As Ever line gaining traction and a possibly lighter, more flexible content agreement in place, there may be more autonomy—and less pressure—to deliver blockbuster hits. Meanwhile, rumors swirl that Prince Harry is actively pursuing reconciliation with King Charles III and Prince William, though Buckingham Palace has not commented.
Whether or not royal fences are mended, the couple seems poised to pivot. Meghan has already been approached about expanding As Ever into additional product categories, and insiders say a podcast revival may also be in the works.
For Netflix, the Sussexes remain valuable brand ambassadors—especially as they continue pushing into advertiser-friendly, influencer-backed territory.
“They’re not walking away,” one insider confirmed. “They’re just evolving.”
Will Harry and Meghan find the Hollywood happy ending they’re still chasing—or are they simply running out of time?
