- The Trump administration disputes claims from ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt about cooperating on anti-Semitism strategies.
- Laura Loomer says senior officials denied any working relationship between Greenblatt and Trump’s team.
- The ADL leader credited Biden for his national strategy and claimed Trump was implementing parts of it.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (TDR) — The administration of President Donald Trump has moved to publicly distance itself from Jonathan Greenblatt after the Anti-Defamation League CEO asserted that Trump’s team was implementing parts of Joe Biden’s national strategy to combat anti-Semitism.
Greenblatt made the claim in a recent interview, saying the ADL had worked with both the current and prior education secretaries to address anti-Semitism, and credited Biden for elevating it to a “federal priority.” His remarks quickly drew a rebuke from Laura Loomer, a Trump ally, who urged the White House to sever ties with the ADL leader.
Days later, Loomer reported that a senior Trump official told her Greenblatt’s comments were “completely false,” adding that he has never met with Trump’s anti-Semitism envoy Yehuda Kaploun or Secretary of Education Linda McMahon.
“They don’t have a working relationship and nobody from the Trump admin is working with Greenblatt or the ADL in any capacity,” Loomer said, quoting the official.

The denial also pushed back on the idea that Trump’s approach mirrors Biden’s. “In no way whatsoever are the policies similar or even comparable,” the official reportedly said. “Biden enabled Jew hatred; Trump is cracking down on Jew hatred.”
Greenblatt, however, maintained that Trump’s team has been “implementing aspects” of the Biden-era plan — a document he called “important” for addressing hate crimes. He praised both administrations for their respective efforts, though his framing placed Biden in a pioneering role.
The dispute highlights broader tensions between the Trump administration and the ADL, an organization that has been both a critic and occasional collaborator with Republican and Democratic presidents on civil rights policy. Loomer’s intervention suggests pro-Trump figures view Greenblatt’s remarks as political undercutting — especially given the ADL’s past criticism of Trump’s rhetoric on immigration and domestic extremism.

The episode also underscores the polarized debate over how to address anti-Jewish bias in the U.S. Biden’s national strategy included expanded reporting mechanisms, grants for security at religious institutions, and stronger federal coordination — policies the Trump team insists differ from its focus on law enforcement crackdowns and penalties for hate-related offenses.
Whether Greenblatt’s statement was misinterpreted, overstated, or politically calculated remains contested. But the Trump administration’s quick and public repudiation shows how sensitive the White House is to suggestions that it’s following Biden’s blueprint on an issue as politically charged as anti-Semitism.
Does this dispute signal a complete breakdown in communication between the ADL and Trump’s administration, or will backchannel talks quietly continue?
