- Rogan criticized Trump’s partisan White House plaques during episodes with comedians Shane Gillis and Tom Segura
- The displays mock Biden as “Sleepy Joe” and “worst President” while calling Obama “one of the most divisive political figures”
- Gillis compared the plaques to an African dictatorship while Segura suggested Trump is “losing it”
WASHINGTON (TDR) — Podcaster Joe Rogan, who endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 election, harshly criticized the president’s controversial White House plaques during episodes released this week with comedians Tom Segura and Shane Gillis. The plaques, installed beneath presidential portraits along the West Wing Colonnade as part of Trump’s “Presidential Walk of Fame,” feature partisan attacks written in Trump’s signature style.
Reading Biden’s Plaque Aloud
During his Christmas Day episode with Gillis, Rogan read Biden’s plaque aloud, repeatedly expressing disbelief at the partisan language displayed in the historic White House. The plaque calls Biden “Sleepy Joe” and “by far, the worst President in American History,” while claiming he took office through “the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States.”
“This is so crazy. You shouldn’t be allowed to do this,” Rogan said. “It should be like, historians say, this guy was president from bup bup bah to bup bup bah.”

After reading that the plaque concludes with “President Trump would get Re-Elected in a Landslide, and SAVE AMERICA!” in all caps, Gillis responded with a pointed observation about the unprecedented presidential behavior.
“He’s Not Beating the Dictator Charges”
“He’s not beating the dictator charges. This is like an African dictatorship,” Gillis said during the episode.
Rogan agreed with the assessment, warning that the displays could set a dangerous precedent for future administrations. “Other people could do that too and then the White House stops being the White House, and it becomes whoever is in its house, where he could just go crazy and say everybody else is a crook,” Rogan explained.
The podcaster specifically cited California Governor Gavin Newsom as someone who might retaliate with similar partisan displays if given the opportunity.
Segura: Trump Is “Losing It”

During his December 23 episode with Segura, Rogan expressed similar concerns about the plaques. “There’s nothing nuttier than the plaques underneath the presidents’ names,” Rogan declared. “How is this real? How are you allowed to do that?”
Segura brought up the plaques alongside other controversial Trump actions, including renaming the Kennedy Center after himself and demolishing the Rose Garden. When discussing these changes, Segura bluntly stated that Trump is “losing it too, you can tell.”
“I think everybody does when you get to a certain age,” Rogan agreed, referencing Trump being 79 years old.
What the Plaques Actually Say
The bronze plaques unveiled in mid-December feature highly partisan commentary written in Trump’s characteristic style, complete with sporadic capitalization and exclamation points. Biden’s plaque accuses him of causing “the highest Inflation ever recorded” and allowing “21 million people from all over the World pour into the United States, including from prisons, jails, mental institutions, and insane asylums.”
Barack Obama’s plaque describes him as “one of the most divisive political figures in American History” and claims he “spied on the 2016 Presidential Campaign of Donald J. Trump.” Multiple independent investigations, including bipartisan Senate reports, found no political influence over the FBI investigation.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that “many were written directly by the President himself.”
Growing Criticism From Former Allies
Rogan’s criticism marks a notable shift from his strong endorsement of Trump during the 2024 campaign. The podcaster, who commands 20.6 million subscribers on YouTube and hosts Spotify’s number one podcast, has increasingly questioned Trump’s decisions since the inauguration.
The plaques have sparked bipartisan criticism. Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said on “The Five” that he’s “not for this at all,” while former Vice President Kamala Harris told Jimmy Kimmel that “the American people deserve better.”
Should presidential displays in the White House maintain historical neutrality rather than partisan commentary?
