• Trump announces plan to sue Trevor Noah after Grammy Awards joke linking him to Jeffrey Epstein
  • President insists he never visited Epstein’s island and calls Noah’s statement “false and defamatory”
  • Latest Epstein files release includes unverified allegations about Trump that DOJ officials dismiss as not credible

WASHINGTON, DC (TDR) — President Donald Trump declared Monday morning that he plans to sue Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah over a joke the comedian made linking the president to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, escalating tensions in what has become a contentious cultural and political flashpoint.

The lawsuit threat came after Noah, hosting the 68th Grammy Awards for the sixth and final time Sunday night, made a controversial remark while presenting the Song of the Year award to Billie Eilish. The South African comedian quipped about Trump wanting Greenland, adding that since Epstein’s island is gone, the president needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.

President Denies Island Visits

Trump responded forcefully through his Truth Social platform, calling the Grammy Awards “the WORST, virtually unwatchable” before addressing Noah’s comment directly.

“Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!” Trump declared in his post.

“I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media.”

The president labeled Noah “a total loser” who needs to “get his facts straight, and get them straight fast.” Trump announced his intention to pursue legal action against the comedian, writing he would sue “this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C.” for “plenty.”

“It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$,” Trump stated.

“Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”

The Grammy controversy follows the Justice Department’s Friday release of 3 million additional pages from its Epstein investigation, including 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. The massive document dump brought the total disclosure to approximately 3.5 million pages under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday that allegations involving Trump in the files were compiled from anonymous tips and secondhand information.

“There have been hundreds of calls made to the FBI where allegations are made by either anonymous individuals or people who are very quickly determined to not be credible,” Blanche explained.

The Justice Department noted that unverified claims and allegations submitted to the FBI mention Trump but stressed these materials contain “untrue and sensationalist claims.” There is no verified evidence that either Trump or Clinton visited Little Saint James Island, which has been linked to sex crimes committed by Epstein against minors. Epstein died by apparent suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Trump and Epstein were friends dating back to the 1980s, though Trump has repeatedly denied any knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities or participation in his sex trafficking operation.

Will Trump’s lawsuit threat against Noah proceed, or does this represent another case of the president using litigation warnings to silence critics?
