• Alex Jones took direct aim at President Trump Wednesday over what he called “cult-like” rhetoric regarding the Jeffrey Epstein case. The Infowars host accused Trump of alienating loyal supporters and fueling backlash over the DOJ’s recent claims about Epstein’s records, escalating tensions between MAGA influencers and the former president’s inner circle.

AUSTIN, TX (TDR) — Conservative media figure and longtime Trump ally Alex Jones went on a blistering tirade Wednesday, calling out President Trump for his increasingly aggressive tone toward supporters still demanding transparency in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

The fiery remarks followed Trump’s social media post in which he dismissed the ongoing scrutiny of Epstein’s client list as a “hoax” and labeled those fueling speculation—including members of his own MAGA base—as “weaklings” who had been “conned by the Lunatic Left.”

In response, Jones accused the president of turning on the very supporters who helped fuel his rise to power.

“You’re not the pope, bro,” Jones said on his Wednesday broadcast. “You’re not speaking from the throne ex cathedra… When Trump starts behaving like that, it starts getting into cult territory.”

Trump’s Frustration Boils Over

Trump’s latest social media statement came as frustration within his base mounted over the Justice Department’s July memo declaring that “there is no Epstein client list,” and that the deceased sex offender “died by suicide” in a Manhattan jail in 2019.

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax,” Trump wrote. “And my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker.”

The message drew sharp criticism not only from opponents but from staunch allies like Jones, who characterized Trump’s posture as dismissive and politically dangerous.

Jones: “I’m Trying to Save Trump”

Jones, whose Infowars platform has long trafficked in anti-establishment messaging, insisted that his criticisms stem from a desire to protect the movement rather than dismantle it.

“I’m trying to save Trump,” he said. “His enemies are my enemies. But I’m not going to give bad counsel to the public or Trump. I will not do it.”

He acknowledged Trump’s achievements and even praised the president for scaring the “globalist system,” but warned that attacking Epstein skeptics might alienate a sizable portion of the MAGA movement.

“Maybe this is 10-D chess. But I can tell you it’s the worst way to handle this,” Jones said.

MAGA Movement in Conflict

The exchange underscores growing friction within Trump’s coalition. For months, populist conservatives and pro-transparency activists have pressured the Trump-aligned DOJ to fully release Epstein-related documents, including any evidence of client involvement by elites across politics, finance, and media.

Trump initially backed Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the files, saying she could release “whatever she thinks is credible.” But his subsequent rebuke of Epstein-focused supporters marked a noticeable shift.

Jones, ever attuned to populist anger, noted that this wasn’t the first time Trump reversed positions, saying:

“You guys did a 180, and then a 180, and then a 180 in the last 10 days. It’s bizarre.”

Broader Implications for Trump’s 2025 Messaging

The timing of the feud comes as Trump attempts to consolidate support heading into the critical second half of 2025. With his $4.5 trillion tax overhaul proposal under scrutiny and global security tensions rising, intra-movement dissent could complicate messaging for an administration already besieged by partisan attacks and legacy media skepticism.

While Trump maintains strong support among core voters, incidents like this raise questions about the limits of loyalty—and the risks of fracturing a movement rooted in transparency and anti-elitism.
