• President Donald Trump claims surging Republican poll numbers amid Epstein controversy, branding backlash as a “hoax” pushed by Democrats. Independent pollsters partially confirm the trend, though national approval ratings remain underwater. The political implications of Trump’s response to the Epstein investigation continue to divide the electorate heading into a high-stakes election season.

PALM BEACH, FL (TDR) — President Trump has taken to Truth Social to boast of an apparent resurgence in Republican support, claiming his poll numbers have reached historic highs as fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein saga continues to ripple through Washington.

“My Poll Numbers within the Republican Party, and MAGA, have gone up, significantly, since the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax was exposed by the Radical Left Democrats and, just plain ‘troublemakers,’” President Trump wrote in a Sunday post. “They have hit 90%, 92%, 93%, and 95%, in various polls... The General Election numbers are my highest, EVER!”

Independent Confirmation?

While Trump's characteristic flair for superlatives raised eyebrows, independent pollsters have lent credence to portions of his claim. CNN’s senior data analyst, Harry Enten, acknowledged Thursday that Trump’s Republican support has ticked upward since the latest revelations surrounding Epstein’s death and the Justice Department’s handling of the investigation.

“Republicans who approve of Trump — look at our CNN poll. The prior one, 86 percent. The one out this week, 88 percent,” Enten said. “If anything, Donald Trump’s approval rating has gone up since this whole Epstein saga started.”

A Quinnipiac survey yielded similar results: an increase from 87 to 90 percent Republican approval.

Wider Electorate Wary

Yet while his intra-party appeal appears secure, the broader public remains unconvinced. According to The New York Times’ polling average, Trump’s overall approval has dropped to 44 percent — the lowest since his return to office in January — with a disapproval rating of 53 percent.

The numbers reflect a bifurcated electorate: one fiercely loyal, another increasingly disillusioned. The question remains whether high partisan enthusiasm can overcome broader skepticism in November.

The Epstein Cloud

The controversy stems from conflicting narratives over the government’s release of a DOJ memo reaffirming Epstein’s 2019 death as suicide, and the absence of an “incriminating list” of clients. Trump allies have called it a deep-state cover-up; critics accuse the president of deflecting responsibility.

In leveraging the episode as political capital, President Trump is signaling a familiar strategy: turn criticism into loyalty, and legal peril into campaign fuel.

Will the tactic hold through the general election — or has the nation’s patience for political theater reached its limit?
