However, in Vancouver, Washington, an attempt to destroy ballots was more successful due to a malfunctioning suppression system.

Hobbs has publicly stated his commitment to protecting election workers and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. He assured voters that these acts of violence would not compromise election security and urged citizens not to be deterred from voting. On social media platform X, he emphasized that the perpetrators were fully aware of the potential impact of their actions.

Former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance also weighed in on her blog Civil Discourse, describing these acts as clear instances of domestic terrorism targeting democracy itself. Vance argued that such attacks are meant to discourage voter participation and cast doubt on the legitimacy of elections. She advocated for immediate arrests and prosecutions to prevent further incidents.

In response to these events, local law enforcement agencies have been on high alert. A specific black 2001-2004 Volvo S-60 has been identified as possibly linked to both incidents and an earlier failed attempt at arson. The FBI is involved in ongoing investigations while security measures around ballot drop boxes have been intensified.

Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez from Washington's 3rd District urged constituents affected by the vandalism to seek replacement ballots promptly. She reassured them that authorities are working diligently to ensure those responsible are apprehended swiftly.
