A Florida man was arrested after tearing down his neighbor’s pro-Trump sign and flag, claiming he felt “intimidated” by the display. The incident unfolded Tuesday morning in Largo, when Lee Jonathan Farber, 55, allegedly ripped the items off his neighbor’s fence and threw them into a nearby lake, according to police records. Farber, a registered Democrat, now faces charges of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Neighbor Dispute Over Political Signage Escalates
The signs belonged to Leon Pierce, 67, a registered Republican, who frequently decorates his white picket fence with pro-Trump and anti-Biden messages. The specific sign Farber removed read, “Eight days to go and fuck you Joe,” accompanied by a flag that stated, “Trump 2024 F*** Your Feelings.” Pierce told authorities that Farber had expressed frustration with the signs for more than a year, even countering them with his own pro-Biden messages.
On the day of the incident, Pierce noted that Farber was acting “very radical.” After allegedly tearing down the sign and flag, Farber also caused $130 worth of damage to Pierce's fence.
Farber Admits Actions to Police
During questioning, Farber admitted he removed the items and told officers he felt “intimidated” by the political display. Following his arrest, he was booked into jail Tuesday evening but was later released on his own recognizance the next day. A judge has since ordered Farber to have no contact with Pierce.

Pierce subsequently filed for a protection order against Farber, but a Circuit Court judge denied his petition without holding a hearing.
Longstanding Political Tension Between Neighbors
This incident highlights the ongoing political tension between the two neighbors. Pierce shared that his rotating political signs have irritated Farber for over a year. However, Farber’s actions on Tuesday marked an escalation in their feud. The destroyed signs and flag were reportedly secured to the fence with screws, making their removal more forceful and damaging.
Discussion Sparks Debate on Political Displays
The case raises questions about free speech, public decorum, and the limits of tolerating opposing political views. It also underscores the increasing polarization within local communities.
