• Ye sparked outrage with antisemitic posts on X, praising Hitler and doubling down on offensive remarks.
  • Critics blame X’s relaxed moderation under Elon Musk for enabling hate speech.
  • Ye’s comments reignite debates on accountability, mental health, and platform responsibility.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, ignited outrage Friday morning after flooding X, the social media platform previously called Twitter, with a string of antisemitic remarks. This latest incident echoes the controversy from 2022, which cost the rapper his lucrative brand deals and public reputation.

In a series of posts to his 32 million followers, Ye praised Adolf Hitler, identified as a Nazi, and claimed antisemitism was “just some bulls–t Jewish people made up to protect their bulls–t.” Amid the firestorm, he doubled down on his statements, declaring, “ANY JEWISH PERSON THAT DOES BUSINESS WITH ME NEEDS TO KNOW I DONT LIKE OR TRUST ANY JEWISH PERSON AND THIS IS COMPLETELY SOBER.” He added, “IM NEVER APOLOGIZING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS.”

Ye’s History of Antisemitic Outbursts

This isn’t the first time Ye has faced backlash for such comments. In October 2022, the rapper shared antisemitic rhetoric across TV appearances and on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. His remarks led to suspensions from these platforms, the loss of major brand partnerships, and sharp criticism from fans and industry leaders.

One of the most notable consequences came when Adidas terminated its $2 billion-per-year partnership with Ye after receiving widespread public backlash. Many viewed the decision as a turning point in corporate accountability against hate speech.

Under Elon Musk’s ownership, X has been criticized for relaxing its content moderation policies, which some argue has created a haven for extremists, including neo-Nazis. Antisemitism watchdog groups have reported a “Kanye effect,” pointing to white supremacists using Ye’s past comments to justify their own actions.

Praise for Hitler Reignites Outcry

In his latest spree, Ye posted comments explicitly praising Adolf Hitler, writing, “I’m going to normalize talking about Hitler” and “Hitler was soooo fresh.” The posts triggered immediate backlash online, with many calling for stricter action from X.

Some of Ye’s posts were temporarily removed or hidden, but they later reappeared. It remains unclear who removed the posts initially or why they were restored. During this tirade, Ye thanked Elon Musk, tweeting, “ELON THEY KICKED ME OFF OF INSTAGRAM SO HAPPY YOU BOUGHT X.”

Ye also announced this week that he had been diagnosed with autism, following a turbulent appearance at the Grammys on Sunday. Previously, he had attributed his erratic and offensive behavior to bipolar disorder, a claim that former collaborators have corroborated.

Despite the diagnosis, Ye appeared unrepentant, writing, “If I lost everything again tonight was worth it I can die after this.” In another tweet, he bizarrely praised Jewish video game creators, referencing “The Last of Us” series by saying, “Good Job thank you.”

X Faces Renewed Scrutiny

This latest incident has renewed scrutiny on X and its moderation policies under Elon Musk. Critics argue that the platform has become a breeding ground for hate speech, with Ye’s comments serving as a glaring example.

With antisemitic acts on the rise, many are questioning the accountability of both the platform and its users. Advocacy groups stress the importance of calling out such behavior to prevent its normalization.
