- Attorney General Pam Bondi is facing criticism after dismissing a Justice Department whistleblower as a “leaker” and defending a senior DOJ official accused of suggesting court orders be ignored. The backlash intensified amid unresolved questions about Bondi’s handling of the Epstein investigation and her legal crusade against California’s trans athlete policies.
WASHINGTON, DC (TDR) — Attorney General Pam Bondi is under fire after publicly discrediting a DOJ whistleblower who alleged that senior officials urged staff to disregard judicial orders regarding migrant deportation flights.
In a post to X, Bondi dismissed whistleblower Erez Reuveni as a “disgruntled employee” making “false claims” timed to derail the confirmation of DOJ official Emil Bove to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Reuveni alleged in a formal complaint that during a March 14 meeting, Bove suggested that deportation flights should proceed even if a court order blocked them.
“No one was ever asked to defy a court order,” Bondi wrote. “This is another instance of misinformation being spread to serve a narrative that does not align with the facts.”

Reuveni, in a New York Times interview, expressed alarm over what he described as increasing politicization at DOJ: “The Department of Justice is thumbing its nose at the courts… staff are being forced to choose between the president’s agenda and legal duty.”
Bondi Denies Allegations, Points to Ethics Violation
Bondi stated that Reuveni had “signed three briefs defending DOJ’s position,” and claimed his “revisionist account” only emerged after his termination for ethics violations. She accused him of seeking media attention ahead of Bove’s Senate confirmation.
However, critics argue the timing of Bondi’s defense raises more questions than it answers. The whistleblower’s claims are now part of a broader congressional inquiry, with Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) calling for “immediate answers” about DOJ’s compliance with court orders.
Epstein Fallout Shadows Bondi’s Response
Bondi’s remarks come amid mounting criticism from conservative influencers over her decision to halt the DOJ’s Epstein investigation. Earlier this year, Bondi said the Epstein client list was “on her desk.” Now, she denies its existence entirely — sparking outrage from figures across the political spectrum.

Attempting to shift the narrative, Bondi announced a lawsuit against California for failing to enforce bans on trans athletes in women’s sports. But the move was widely panned on social media and failed to deflect criticism.
Can Bondi recover her credibility, or is her political capital running on fumes?
