- Influencer Nyla Caselli claims she was removed from a $4,000-per-night Airbnb villa in Curaçao after filming social media content from her balcony. The model says the host confronted her late at night, forcing her to leave. Airbnb offered alternative accommodations, but Caselli opted to relocate independently for her safety and peace of mind.
WILLEMSTAD, CUR (TDR) — A luxury Caribbean vacation turned contentious for Los Angeles-based social media influencer Nyla Caselli, who says she was expelled from a $4,000-a-night Airbnb after filming content for her 900,000 Instagram followers.
Caselli, 23, was staying in a high-end villa in Curaçao when she claims the Airbnb host unexpectedly demanded she leave the property. According to Caselli, the confrontation happened late at night, several hours after she had taken pictures on the villa’s balcony with friends.
“I was taking pictures of myself with my friends on the balcony,” Caselli told media outlets. “A few hours after they left, the Airbnb host came to the room while I was sleeping. They told me they had ‘seen what I was doing earlier’ and that I had to leave.”

Caselli maintains that no disruptive behavior occurred and insists she was using her personal phone to capture travel content—a standard part of her work as an influencer generating an estimated £1.2 million per year.
Airbnb Responds as Caselli Seeks Alternate Accommodations
Caselli said she felt blindsided by the host’s decision and had nowhere to go at the time. While a representative from Airbnb reportedly offered her an alternate hotel to resolve the matter, Caselli declined and opted to handle the situation directly with the owner.
Ultimately, she chose to check in at the Curaçao Marriott Resort, where staff welcomed her warmly and provided a signature “blue island” drink. “They made my stay better,” Caselli said. “It really helped my situation and made me feel better and safer.”
Despite the resort’s hospitality, she said it wasn’t an ideal experience. “This place was more for couples,” she explained. “I stayed in my room most of the time.”
Broader Implications for Airbnb Policies and Host Behavior
Caselli’s experience highlights ongoing tensions between Airbnb hosts and content creators, as social media personalities increasingly use short-term rentals for promotional and commercial purposes. While Airbnb’s terms of service require compliance with house rules and prohibit unauthorized commercial use, filming from a private balcony without disruption may fall into a gray area—particularly when not explicitly restricted in the listing.
The incident also raises questions about discrimination and privacy. “I don’t know if they Googled me,” Caselli speculated. “But the host just didn’t want me there at all.”
Influencer Cautions Future Travel Plans After Dispute
Caselli said the event has affected her summer travel planning and that she now intends to vet accommodations more thoroughly. “I’m planning on going to Italy next,” she said, “but I will definitely be doing my research on rules and where I’m staying.”
