• Ian Maxwell, brother of Ghislaine Maxwell, praised President Trump for showing “humanity” during his 2020 remarks about his sister. The renewed attention comes as the Trump administration faces mounting calls to unseal Epstein-related case files and pursue broader transparency in one of America’s most scrutinized criminal conspiracies.

LONDON, UK (TDR) — Ian Maxwell, the brother of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, has publicly expressed his gratitude to President Trump for offering what he called a “positive” and “humane” statement about his sister at a critical moment in 2020—words he said no other leader dared to offer.

Speaking during a Tuesday appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Maxwell responded to questions about his sister’s high-profile conviction and whether she deceived those closest to her regarding her involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s vast criminal enterprise.

“No, I believe my sister. I’ve known her 60 years, Piers. I’m not going to suddenly say she started pulling the wool,” Maxwell said. “I don’t believe so. Not for a second.”

Praise for Trump’s Composure

When asked about President Trump’s comments at a 2020 White House press briefing—where he said, “I just wish her well, frankly”—Maxwell interpreted the remarks as an uncommon display of empathy.

“He didn’t need to. He’s the president of the United States, the most powerful man in the world,” Maxwell said. “He could’ve just sloughed it off. He didn’t. He made a positive statement. I am very grateful to that, and I know Ghislaine was too.”

President Trump’s brief acknowledgment of Maxwell drew considerable media scrutiny at the time. Yet supporters viewed his statement as an example of measured civility rather than complicity, consistent with his broader approach to due process—even in politically explosive cases.

Renewed Pressure on the Epstein Files

The remarks come as the Trump administration navigates renewed demands for transparency in the Epstein-Maxwell saga. Earlier this month, the FBI and Department of Justice issued a joint, unsigned memo dismissing rumors of a so-called Epstein “client list,” while reaffirming the official cause of death as suicide.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that Deputy AG Todd Blanche has opened communications with Maxwell’s legal team. According to Bondi, the DOJ—on President Trump’s direction—has filed to unseal grand jury materials in both prosecutions.

“This is about public trust and judicial integrity,” Bondi said Monday. “No one is above scrutiny.”

Congress Moves Forward

Adding to the pressure, a House Oversight subcommittee issued a subpoena for Maxwell on Tuesday, seeking testimony amid heightened public interest in potential prosecutorial misconduct and elite immunity.
