• Hillary Clinton says she would support a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for President Trump if he secures a just peace in Ukraine.
  • The former political rivals’ rare alignment comes as Trump prepares for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
  • Such a deal remains uncertain, with Russia and Ukraine reportedly “nowhere close” to an agreement.

WASHINGTON (TDR) — In a surprising twist of political fate, Hillary Clinton has said she would support a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for President Donald Trump — if he can deliver a lasting end to the war in Ukraine without forcing the country to capitulate to Russia.

Speaking on Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov’s Raging Moderates podcast, the former secretary of state said she would welcome Trump’s success if it meant a durable peace agreement with no territorial concessions.

“If he could bring about the end to this terrible war… if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor… could really stand up to Putin… If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize,” Clinton said.

The remarks come as Trump is pushing a peace deal framework involving potential land swaps and security guarantees. He is set to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday and has floated the idea of a second summit involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Despite the headline-making endorsement, the path to peace is far from certain. Politico reports that Russia and Ukraine remain “nowhere close” to an agreement, even as international mediators explore potential solutions.

Trump has often referred to himself as the “president of peace” and has sought recognition in the past for global diplomacy efforts. The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to U.S. presidents before — including Barack Obama in 2009.

Clinton’s statement is likely to draw mixed reactions from her party’s base. For now, her support remains conditional, dependent on Trump securing a peace agreement that protects Ukrainian sovereignty while deterring further Russian aggression.
