- Dallas man arrested after issuing bomb threats at ICE field office
- Authorities say he showed a wrist “detonator” and claimed a backpack bomb
- Case follows surge in violent threats against ICE under President Trump’s immigration crackdown
DALLAS, Texas (TDR) — A 36-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly threatening to detonate a bomb at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Dallas, an incident that underscores rising hostility toward immigration authorities amid President Donald Trump’s aggressive enforcement agenda.
The Arrest in Dallas
Authorities identified the suspect as Bratton Dean Wilkinson, a Dallas resident who allegedly approached ICE security officers shortly after 6:30 p.m. claiming he had a bomb in his backpack and showing what he described as a detonator strapped to his wrist. A senior DHS official said the confrontation forced the facility into a temporary shelter-in-place.
The Dallas Police Department bomb squad responded and took Wilkinson into custody without incident. He was charged with making terroristic threats and transferred to the Dallas County Jail. By 7:19 p.m., police issued an all-clear.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas is reviewing the case for potential federal charges.
A Pattern of Anti-ICE Threats
Monday’s incident follows a series of threatening acts directed at ICE facilities nationwide. Just two weeks earlier, a letter containing white powder was mailed to ICE’s New York City office, part of a wave of anti-ICE mailings that federal sources say included “anti-ICE rhetoric” across multiple letters.
In San Francisco last week, Adrian Guerrero, 35, was charged with assault and property destruction after allegedly slashing the tire of a federal vehicle and threatening to stab an officer during a law enforcement operation. Prosecutors allege Guerrero shouted violent threats, including promises to harm agents’ families.
DHS filings describe Guerrero as part of a group of 15 to 20 rioters who assaulted and pepper-sprayed federal agents during the confrontation, highlighting what ICE officials say has been a 1,000% increase in assaults against officers since Trump returned to the White House.

The surge in violence against ICE is unfolding as Trump ramps up immigration arrests and expands enforcement operations nationwide. ICE says attacks on agents have reached historic levels, forcing adjustments in training and protective measures.
ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons told CBS News last week that officers must prepare for increasingly aggressive protest tactics. “We’re seeing different methods being used by demonstrators,” Lyons said. “We have to reevaluate and retool our training to ensure our officers are ready for any scenario.”
Lyons also defended ICE officers who have begun wearing masks on duty, citing threats against their families and online doxing campaigns. “I’m not going to stop our agents from doing something that will keep them safe,” he said. “To me, that’s the number one priority.”
Public Reaction and Political Context
The Dallas arrest has fueled debate about rising tensions surrounding immigration enforcement. Supporters of the president argue that strong immigration policies are necessary, while critics warn that anti-ICE protests have turned increasingly violent.

Civil liberties groups continue to push back against Trump’s crackdown, saying ICE’s expanded role risks undermining community trust in law enforcement. But Trump allies argue that threats against officers prove why a tougher stance is needed.
For now, Wilkinson remains in custody as prosecutors weigh federal charges, while ICE agents nationwide prepare for continued confrontations.
Will rising threats against ICE escalate further as Trump intensifies his immigration crackdown — or push lawmakers to demand a new balance between security and civil liberties?
