• Kim Kardashian criticized President Trump’s deportation raids, suggesting non-criminal immigrants were disproportionately targeted.
  • Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin accused Kardashian of “doing the bidding of criminals.”
  • The clash highlights rising tensions between Hollywood celebrities and Trump officials over immigration enforcement.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (TDR)Kim Kardashian may have built a brand on reality television, but her latest comments on immigration policy prompted a sharp rebuke from the Department of Homeland Security. At a recent event in Venice, Italy, Kardashian said mass deportations under President Donald Trump appeared to be affecting immigrants without criminal records.

“You want to believe that there’s a powerful message in protection, but then you see that it’s not really happening like that,” she remarked. “It’s really tough, but I think that we have to do what we can to protect the people that have really supported and built our country.”

Homeland Security Pushes Back

Her comments drew a blistering response from Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary at DHS. Speaking to TMZ, McLaughlin said Kardashian was “misinformed and detached” from the ICE operations she criticized.

“These are the violent criminals who Homeland Security, under President Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem’s leadership, have removed from Los Angeles’ streets: murderers, rapists, gang members, and child pedophiles,” McLaughlin said. “Why does Ms. Kardashian continue to do the bidding of criminals at the expense of innocent Americans and brave law enforcement?”

The White House Responds

The White House echoed McLaughlin’s sentiment. Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson defended the administration’s deportation strategy, declaring: “President Trump is fulfilling his promise to deport criminal illegal aliens and Make America Great Again. No matter what the elite Hollywood celebrities have to say about it.”

Kardashian’s Earlier Activism

This is not the first time Kardashian has waded into immigration debates. During anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles earlier this summer, she posted on social media: “When we’re told ICE exists to keep our country safe and remove violent criminals – great. But when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. There HAS to be a BETTER way.”

She added, “Growing up in LA, I’ve seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of this city. They are our neighbors, friends, classmates, coworkers, and family.”

While praised by immigrant advocacy groups, her remarks drew criticism from conservative figures.

Conservative Critics Weigh In

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk dismissed Kardashian’s calls for reform, insisting “there isn’t a better way” to handle deportations. He argued immigration is a plague undermining American sovereignty.

Others pointed out Kardashian’s reported support for Trump in the 2024 election. “She can post about ICE all she wants. SHE VOTED FOR HIM!” one critic noted, highlighting what some see as a contradiction between her activism and political choices.

Hollywood vs. Washington

The episode underscores a broader clash between celebrity activism and Trump’s law-and-order platform. For the administration, immigration enforcement is about fulfilling promises to voters who demand tough measures against illegal immigration. For Kardashian and her supporters, it is about defending families and preserving community ties in cities like Los Angeles.

Whether Kardashian’s words sway public opinion remains to be seen. Polls suggest Trump’s immigration policies continue to resonate with a majority of Americans, even as cultural icons challenge their morality.

Is Kardashian’s platform amplifying immigrant voices—or will Washington’s hard line continue to drown out Hollywood’s calls for compassion?
