WASHINGTON, DC (TDR) — Ariana Grande found herself in a direct confrontation with the White House Monday after questioning whether President Trump’s policies have delivered tangible benefits to Americans.

The 32-year-old pop star reshared an Instagram post Sunday from podcast host and makeup artist Matt Bernstein to her 373 million followers. The message posed pointed questions to Trump voters about the administration’s 250-day track record.

“It’s been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all — has your life gotten better?” the post asked.

It continued with specific economic questions: “Have your groceries gotten cheaper? Has your health insurance premium gone down? Has your work/life balance improved? Can you take a vacation yet? Are you happier?”

White House Claps Back

The response from Donald Trump’s administration came swiftly. White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai issued a statement to multiple outlets that referenced Grande’s own song titles.

“Save your tears, Ariana, because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investments. He even signed an executive order just like magic that paved the way for the FTC to crack down on Ticketmaster for ripping off Ariana Grande’s concert-going fans. Get well soon, Ariana!”

The statement referenced the Federal Trade Commission’s lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster over misleading consumers about resale ticket prices. The FTC also recently sued ticket resale companies for allegedly using illegal methods to secure and resell tickets at inflated rates for popular concerts.

Grande has consistently voiced opposition to Trump’s policies throughout both his terms. After Trump signed an executive order in January recognizing only male and female sexes, Grande posted a message stating, “We’re bracing ourselves for what these extremists will try to do next.”

The Grammy winner publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election. After Trump’s victory, she took to Instagram Stories expressing empathy for those disappointed by the outcome.

“Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today,” Grande wrote at the time.

Economic Claims Under Scrutiny

Desai’s claim that Trump “ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis” comes amid mixed economic data. While the administration touts investment gains, recent polling suggests public skepticism about economic improvements.

A Fox News poll reportedly found 52 percent of respondents stating the Trump administration “had made the economy worse” over the last six months. Additionally, electricity prices have risen in America, and inflation ticked up in August.

Trump made several economic claims during his recent United Nations address, stating that energy prices, gasoline prices and grocery prices were all down. However, fact-checkers have disputed these assertions.

Celebrity Activism Meets Politics

The exchange represents a broader pattern of tension between the Trump administration and entertainment industry figures who have criticized his policies. Grande joins numerous celebrities who have publicly opposed Trump’s immigration enforcement, transgender policy positions and other initiatives.

The Instagram post Grande shared specifically highlighted concerns about ICE raids, transgender rights and free speech — issues that have generated significant controversy during Trump’s second term.

Grande’s representatives have not yet publicly responded to the White House statement. The singer has previously performed for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the 2014 “In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul” event.

Whether the White House’s playful yet pointed response will quiet criticism from Grande’s massive fanbase or amplify the debate over Trump’s policy impacts remains to be seen.
