Days after pardoning him, Donald Trump criticized US Rep. Henry Cuellar for running for re-election as a Democrat. Cuellar and his wife were pardoned by Trump after facing bribery charges. They allegedly accepted money from Azerbaijan and a Mexican bank.

Cuellar then filed for re-election, stating he'd remain a Democrat. Trump suggested Cuellar was disloyal and had been targeted by Democrats for his stance on immigration.
