• Trump described ongoing document release as “Democrat inspired Hoax” on Truth Social Friday following discovery of over 1 million additional files
  • President demanded Justice Department “release all of their names, embarrass them, and get back to helping our Country”
  • Justice Department announced discovery came just two days after revealing more than 1 million potentially related documents

WASHINGTON (TDR) — President Donald Trump called on the Justice Department Friday to disclose the identities of all Democrats allegedly connected to Jeffrey Epstein, describing the ongoing document release as a “Democrat inspired Hoax” just two days after federal officials announced the discovery of over 1 million additional files potentially related to the late sex offender.

Trump addressed the discovery on Truth Social late Friday, writing that the Justice Department is being forced to spend all of its time on the issue rather than focusing on what he called election fraud and other priorities.

“Now 1,000,000 more pages on Epstein are found. DOJ is being forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat inspired Hoax. When do they say NO MORE, and work on Election Fraud etc.”

The president went on to allege that Democrats, not Republicans, are the ones who worked with Epstein, demanding the Justice Department “release all of their names, embarrass them, and get back to helping our Country.”

Justice Department Announces Massive Document Discovery

The Justice Department announced Wednesday that the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI have informed officials they uncovered over a million more documents potentially related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The department said lawyers are working around the clock to review and make the legally required redactions to protect victims.

Due to the mass volume of material, this process may take a few more weeks, according to the Justice Department statement. The department insisted it will continue to fully comply with federal law and President Trump’s direction to release the files.

The Christmas Eve announcement came hours after a dozen US senators called on the Justice Department’s watchdog to examine its failure to meet last Friday’s congressionally mandated deadline. The group, 11 Democrats and a Republican, told Acting Inspector General Don Berthiaume in a letter that victims deserve full disclosure and the peace of mind of an independent audit.

The Justice Department has released scores of records on Epstein over the last week, responding to the Epstein Files Transparency Act requiring it to publish its files on Epstein by December 19. The files cover more than 20 years worth of investigations into the disgraced financier, and highlighted the relationships he cultivated over the years with well-known people like Trump and former President Bill Clinton, neither of whom have been accused of any wrongdoing.

Republican Representative Thomas Massie, one of the chief authors of the law mandating the document release, posted Wednesday that the Justice Department did break the law by making illegal redactions and by missing the deadline. Another architect of the law, Democratic Representative Ro Khanna, said he and Massie will continue to keep the pressure on.

“After we said we are bringing contempt, the DOJ is now finding millions more documents to release.”

Representative Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said in a statement that it is outrageous the Justice Department has illegally withheld over 1 million documents from the public. Garcia called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify to Congress under oath to explain herself.

Files Include References to Trump’s Relationship With Epstein

Last week’s initial release of Justice Department files on Epstein featured multiple photos of Clinton, including an image of the former president sitting in a hot tub and several images of him at events with celebrities. Another release of files earlier this week included references to Trump. One 2020 email from a federal prosecutor said flight logs revealed that the president flew on Epstein’s private jet many more times than was previously known.

The files do not indicate wrongdoing on the part of Clinton or Trump. A Clinton spokesperson has long acknowledged that the former president traveled with Epstein on several occasions, but said he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes. Trump ran in the same social circles as Epstein in the 1990s and 2000s, but says he cut off ties with Epstein many years ago.

The president called the release of photos of Clinton and others a terrible thing on Monday, saying that many people who appear in images with Epstein really had nothing to do with him.

“I don’t like the pictures of Bill Clinton being shown. I don’t like the pictures of other people being shown. I think it’s a terrible thing.”

Senate Democrats Accuse Trump of Cover-Up

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer responded to the Justice Department’s announcement of a longer timeline for releasing the files by accusing the Trump administration of a massive cover-up. In a statement, Schumer called the staggered, heavily redacted release a blatant cover-up.

“A Christmas Eve news dump of ‘a million more files’ only proves what we already know: Trump is engaged in a massive coverup. The question Americans deserve answered is simple: WHAT are they hiding—and WHY?”

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joined 11 Democrats in signing a letter Wednesday urging the Justice Department’s inspector general to audit the department’s compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The senators wrote that given the administration’s historic hostility to releasing the files, politicization of the Epstein case more broadly, and failure to comply with the transparency act, a neutral assessment of its compliance with the statutory disclosure requirements is essential.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the department’s approach in an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, insisting the delays are necessary to protect victims of Epstein’s abuse. Blanche said the reason officials are still reviewing documents and continuing the process is simply to protect victims.

Will the Justice Department meet its obligation to fully release all Epstein files despite Trump’s characterization of the investigation as a “Democrat inspired Hoax”?
