Taylor Swift is no stranger to the spotlight, but now she’s shining brighter than ever. Thanks to her wildly successful Eras tour, the pop sensation has rocketed to the top of Forbes’ 2024 list of the wealthiest female musicians. With an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion, Swift, 34, has officially overtaken Rihanna, last year’s titleholder.

Forbes reports that Swift reached billionaire status in October 2023, largely due to the jaw-dropping revenue from her Eras tour and the value of her music catalog. Swift’s rise to the top is historic; she’s the first musician to become a billionaire primarily through her music and performances. That’s right—while some stars build empires with side businesses, Swift did it with her songs and sold-out shows.

Rihanna, however, isn’t too far behind. The “Diamonds” singer and Fenty Beauty mogul has a cool $1.4 billion to her name, thanks in part to her cosmetics line with LVMH and her Savage x Fenty lingerie brand. Although she’s no longer number one in the music category, Rihanna is still a global powerhouse in both beauty and fashion.

Swift, on the other hand, is making her fortune largely through music. According to Forbes, she has pocketed $600 million from her catalog and tours alone. She also has a hefty real estate portfolio, valued at around $125 million.

Despite her meteoric rise, Swift is still second overall among musicians, male or female, with only Jay-Z ahead of her. The rap legend is worth an estimated $2.5 billion, thanks to his ventures in music, business, and investments. Swift, however, is making waves across other Forbes lists as well, ranking No. 24 on America’s Self-Made Women list and No. 14 on the Celebrity Billionaires list.

But Taylor Swift’s influence isn’t just financial—it’s cultural. The demand for tickets to her Eras tour was so intense that some fans filed a class-action lawsuit against Ticketmaster, leading to a congressional investigation into the ticketing giant’s practices. Her shows have also had a huge economic impact, with cities reporting major boosts from her concerts. In fact, her performances have been so powerful, they’ve even caused minor seismic activity in certain areas!

And that’s not all. Swift’s influence has even reached the political arena. In September, she threw her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, sparking backlash from former President Donald Trump. Swift’s endorsement also led to a spike in voter registration, with over 405,000 people visiting a registration link she shared on Instagram within 24 hours of her post.

For now, Swift is taking a short break from her tour. After wrapping up the international leg in August, which included five sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium, she’ll be back in the U.S. later this month. The next stop? Miami, where she’ll kick off the final leg of her Eras tour on October 18. Swift’s reign over music, and perhaps beyond, is far from over.
