In Orange County’s 45th Congressional District, Democrat Dave Min from Irvine is narrowly leading Republican Scott Baugh in the 47th District by a slim margin of 50.5 percent to Baugh’s 49.5 percent.Over in the 49th Congressional District, which spans parts of San Diego and Orange counties, incumbent Rep. Mike Levin, a Democrat from Dana Point, has managed to secure a lead against Republican challenger Matt Gunderson with 51.7 percent of votes to Gunderson’s 48.3 percent.
Meanwhile, a significant turnaround occurred in northern Los Angeles County’s 27th Congressional District where Democrat George Whitesides, previously NASA’s chief of staff, overtook Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Santa Clarita). Whitesides now leads with a narrow margin of 50.4 percent to Garcia’s 49.6 percent.
Following these developments, Garcia emphasized the importance of counting every vote accurately while expressing confidence that his campaign messages on economic security and neighborhood safety would resonate with voters once all ballots are counted.
