Authorities are investigating a TikTok account tied to 15-year-old Natalie "Samantha" Rupnow, who fatally shot two people and injured six others during Monday’s attack at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin.
TikTok Account Sparks Controversy with Racist Content
The account, removed after public complaints, contained racist and white supremacist content, drawing the attention of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and sparking further scrutiny into Rupnow’s motives.
The TikTok handle, @targetedbloodsport, featured two videos referencing the film Fight Club. One used the Pixies' song “Where Is My Mind” with a caption reading, “May I die like how beautiful rain is.” The bio included the phrase “totally nice day,” which the ADL identifies as shorthand for the white supremacist slogan "total N-word death." The account quickly garnered alarming comments after the shooting, TMZ reported, and was removed once TikTok was contacted for comment.
Authorities Investigate Possible Accomplice
Authorities revealed Wednesday that Rupnow may have had an accomplice. She had been in communication with Alexander Paffendorf, a 20-year-old Californian allegedly planning an attack on a government building. A San Diego judge issued a red flag restraining order against Paffendorf on Tuesday, requiring him to surrender firearms and barring him from future gun purchases. However, the order did not specify the building he targeted or details about his collaboration with Rupnow.

Rupnow used two handguns during the attack, killing substitute teacher Erin West and freshman Rubi Vergara, police said. She died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. Investigators disclosed that she had been undergoing therapy due to challenges in her home life, according to court documents reviewed by The Washington Post.
Further concerns emerged over Rupnow’s online activity. She was a member of the website Watch People Die, which hosts graphic videos of shootings and other violent acts. Notably, investigators noted her fascination with other school shooters, indicating a troubling pattern in her behavior.
Rare Incident of a Female School Shooter
Despite this, authorities have yet to determine a clear motive for the shooting. Rupnow is now among only nine female school shooters in the United States since 1999, highlighting the rarity of such incidents involving women.
The tragic attack has left the school community grieving as law enforcement continues unraveling the connections between Rupnow, her digital footprint, and her communication with Paffendorf. The investigation aims to piece together the events leading up to the shooting and prevent similar incidents.
