A federal judge has ordered the immediate release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from ICE custody. Maryland District Judge Paula Xinis ruled that immigration authorities wrongfully detained him and repeatedly pushed for his removal without legal grounds. The judge noted that without an active removal order, the government has no legal path to deport him, a point ICE officials could not explain.
