For years, Donald Trump attacked mail-in voting. Now, with the midterms approaching, he’s telling Republicans to use it. What changed—the principle, or the political calculation?
On this episode of The Dupree Report, Wayne breaks down Trump’s ballot reversal. In an October 3 video, Trump urged supporters to “vote early, vote by mail, or vote in person on Election Day.” On October 5, he repeated that voters could use either method, while saying he preferred voting in person. That’s a different message from a president who has repeatedly called mail-in voting corrupt—and has used it himself.
Wayne examines the gap between Trump’s words and actions, why Republicans are encouraging a voting method their own leader has spent years questioning, and whether this is a genuine change of position or an election-season adjustment. Encouraging supporters to mail their ballots is one thing. Abandoning efforts to restrict the practice is another.
No co-host. No comfort food. Just the statements, the contradictions, and the questions voters deserve to hear—without giving either party a free pass.
