August 24, 2026 — The Supreme Court handed President Trump a 6–3 procedural victory, lifting an injunction that blocked key portions of his mail-voting executive order.
The decision allows parts of the administration’s plan to move forward, including federal citizenship-list development and certain election-related rulemaking. But the Court did not decide whether Trump’s order is ultimately legal.
A separate nationwide injunction also continues to block USPS from withholding mail ballots based on voter-eligibility verification.
Bottom line: Trump won this round, but the larger legal battle over the 2026 election is far from settled.
